USW FOUNDATION
DEGREE PROGRAMME
Foundation Degree in Community Football
Coaching and Development
Sky Blues in the Community are proud to continue their strong partnership with EFL in the Community and the University of South Wales (USW) to deliver the Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development. This innovative programme combines in-person, online, and practical learning to help you develop advanced coaching skills and gain real-world experience.
Throughout the course, you will explore key areas such as children and youth coaching, football development, sports coaching, social inclusion, and sports management. You will be based at the CBS Arena with Sky Blues in the Community, and you will also attend a minimum of five days per year at the USW Sport Park, a £3.7 million coaching and performance centre. As a USW student, you will have full access to online resources including the library and the Blackboard learning platform.
Real Coaching Experience
In Year Two, you will complete up to 200 hours of work-based coaching, supported by weekly tutorials and a comprehensive mentoring programme. This hands-on experience within professional football clubs gives you the opportunity to contribute to:
- School and grassroots sports development
- Social inclusion projects
- Football development initiatives
This year, students have supported EFL and Premier League Foundation programmes, met football legends such as Frank Lampard, viewed major national trophies, and worked Coventry City FC matchdays just inches away from first team players.
You will also work towards your UEFA C License Football Coaching Certificate and have opportunities to achieve additional vocational awards.
